Summer Dreams

Another fun summer weekend! Lyla has been waiting and waiting for the perfect day to fly her kite and Saturday, she got it! It was a just blustery enough day with sweatshirt weather and beautiful blue skies. She loved holding onto "Ladyflier" as she swooped and dived. It was a simple wish fulfilled for Lyla and fun to watch.

We played soccer and did the swings too. Amir didn't understand the idea of kicking, but liked the ball anyway. He is getting more comfortable walking on uneven surfaces and has started standing up in the middle of the floor. I probably wouldn't have noticed the milestone if not for all the months and months it took Lyla to master the same skill. Our bodies really are amazing!

We went to Emily's MSW grad party in the afternoon. It was fun to hang out with the family and congratulate Emily on all her hard work -- another dream fulfilled! Amir was upset when Cindy talked to him, but we had fun otherwise. Lyla did a great job playing games and hitting the piƱata!

Today we laid low and played at home. Lyla helped make pancakes and Amir gobbled them up. He liked playing in the diaper box until it fell over when he stood up. After that we made it into a house for
Herky.

Amir sat in a booster seat for the first time today! He did pretty well, but we had to keep a close eye on him the whole time so he didn't try to turn around and get out. We shopped and had a lazy evening at Valleyfair. We tried a new restaurant with great food and Lyla got to go on Mad Mouse; it was her first 44" ride!

Amir roared at every dinosaur on the way out. We came home singing, smiling, and howling (Lyla and Amir were both howling in the garage). Family fun and a leisurely pace fill us all with joy, love, and happiness!
