Happy Birthday Little Man! 20 weeks is technically five months, but you've still got a couple weeks until your official birthday. You're moving on up to size three diapers who's week. You probably should have moved up a couple weeks ago but we had a whole box of size 2 to use up.
You're SO happy all the time and you rarely cry unless you're really upset. You have been getting into the happy baby pose lately and love to watch your feet. You've also mastered reaching for things with two hands and grab everything around you. This morning while you sat in the bumbo on the counter you grabbed for the peanut butter jar. I was able to stop you before your whole hand went it but you got some on your fingers. I had to lick it off so it didn't go right into your mouth. PBS probably sent the best first food. I did give you a tiny lick of berry jam though.
You LOVE your submarine and are getting into bath time more and more lately. You like to splash around and grab your toys and the washcloths. It's fun to see you play and experience the joy of splashing around. Your rash seems to be getting better, but if I don't keep up with your baths and lotion it comes back. Thankfully we seem to be rid of the yeast.
Next milestone is teeth! You have one that sort of popped out on the bottom on Wednesday, but now tonight it's sunken back in. You seem to have all the classic teething troubles ... Hands in your mouth all the time, drooling, and now this week, you're suddenly pooping way more often. Maybe you're just getting more regular ... Or maybe it's my switch to an all Bengali diet.
You loved Grandma Suraiya! You always have a smile for her and like to hang with her and read or play with the newspaper. Monday we went to the Japanese garden at Normandale for some relaxing family time and then went to the zoo again. Grandma cuddled you on a bench while Daddy and I took Lyla to see the cows and goats up close.
Tuesday I went back to work and Grandma cooked most of the day. Then we went to the park as a family before coming home for one last dinner before Grandma had to leave. We'll miss you lots!!
Yesterday Lyla spent the day with Grandma Jill. Mom and Dad brought her home and Amir was very happy to see them. He attacked mom's face by pulling her close and biting her nose and cheek and forehead. So funny that he does this just I like his big sister did!
A big milestone came for Lyla this week: she learned to tie her shoes!! We spent a lot of time practicing last night and while she got very frustrated, she finally got it down and was SO proud to show Masud. Next week she'll have her first day of kindergarten. Prior Lake starts really late so they have a bunch of activities this week. Tonight we went to the open house at school so she cloud see her classroom and meet her teacher officially. She also got her lunch code and enjoyed exploring the media center with Masud.
She will be in class with the same teacher who did her kindergarten readiness interview. Today when we walked up, the teacher greeted Lyla by name. Lyla seems to get along with her really well. Lyla was chatting away and drawing comparisons to Ms. Kim's class. She will have her own locker this year and her own cubby. Her name was on the door right at the top in an orange acorn.
