This is Max, our road trip mascot. Lyla won him for Amir in a crane game in Wisconsin Dells. Today (actually yesterday since I'm typing this at 12:16 am) we left around 7 am for our longest venture yet with two kiddos -- MN to KY! Lyla was exited. Amir was suspicious.
I spent hours making maps and games for the car. Lyla likes having a map. Amir couldn't care less. The ceiling progress chart was a big hit with both of them! Pinterest win, like a boss! Except I forgot there was a tiny corner of Indiana. Oh well, we added it later and agreed it could be indigo Indiana to fit with the rainbow color scheme.
Turkey!
We stopped at Mac for lunch and dinner. We should have stopped for dinner sooner, but the kiddos were doing well, so we waited. Not such a good idea ... But darn if those chicken nuggets after hours of driving weren't delicious!
Both kids ran and climbed around the Mac while we waited for food and after we ate. They reluctantly got into the car for the final stretch. Thanks to Kung Fu Panda, yogurt drops, and Masud's speedy driving, we finally made it just before Amir had a complete meltdown. He did a great job for about 14 hours, but after that it was too much and he just had to let it out and cry himself to exhaustion. We were all ready to get out of the car by the time we pulled up to the hotel -- even Max!
800+ miles was tough, but we made it! We got here just before ten and carried everything upstairs. The room is nice and easily accessible. We're looking forward to a fun family adventure!
