Sioux Falls Day 3

Today we went to the Washington Pavillion. It was totally awesome! We spent the entire day there: 10:30 to 6! We had a great time and yet another really special vacation day. We started at the Kirby Science Discovery Center. The kids loved the air and space exhibits and played in the tot area for a long time. We met a nice staffer who helped us out the rest of the day with special tips. 

Lyla said the space exhibit was her favorite, but she also like the hang glider and the water table. Upstairs, they had dinosaur exhibits that both kids loved, but we didn't play long because it was. Time for our first movie of the day about airplanes. During the movie in the Cinedome (think Omnitheatre only smaller), Amir got unruly and our staffer friend showed me a family room where I could watch the movie while Amir ran around and screamed. 

After the movie, it was lunch time. We had hotdogs and chips form the cafe downstairs and decided it would be great to see Inside Out at the Cinedome too. 

Lucky Amir got to see his first full length movie in full surround screen. He was asleep about two minutes after it started. Great job, buddy!

After the movie, we headed up to the fourth floor of exhibits. They had all kinds of magnets and visual things, plus a whole sports section. The kids loved the balls, gears, climbing wall, and dance dance revolution.

We took a detour to the art museum where the kids did some crafts, ate some cookies and did a scavenger hunt while Masud and I looked briefly at the art. It was good, but I didn't see anything super awesome. After the visual arts center, we headed back for one more movie: 

Tornado Alley. 

Both kids were ready to leave before the end, so we went back out to the exhibits. Once Masud joined us, they took a turn in the wind machine. Lyla's hair was blowing everywhere and Amir was ok at first, but then got very scared after things really picked up. 

Overall it was a great day. We had fun just goofing around and spending fun movie time together. Little things like the wind tunnel, popcorn, and shared lunch onsite made the day extra special since we don't usually stay in one place. Of course, Lyla had to tell Grandma all about it. 

Afterward, Amir picked up my phone and said, "Hi. Hi Grandma." Plain as day. My sweet boy!! Love having family time! We've had so many great adventures this summer! I feel lucky to have such awesome opportunities to have family fun!
