End of Summer -- Back to Wis Dells

One more road trip to round out the season! We came out to the Dells for a quick weekend get away before Labor Day and school and work get nuts. We have been amazingly lucky to have so much fun this summer, and this weekend has been no different.

We came back to the same hotel we visited in June. Lyla and Masud reviewed the TV list, then we headed to Walmart to get some sodas and dinner. The kids asked for Mac and Cheese and peas.

And then we made s'mores too. Yum!

Today we went to the Riverview and Great Northern Railway. The kids had fun getting into the train set and playing on the toy train while we waited.

We waited a while for the train to come back from it's last trip. Everyone was excited when it came rolling into the station and blowing steam. I couldn't believe how loud it was! We boarded right away and the kids liked having their tickets punched -- just like dinosaur train!

We had lots of time to take pictures ... Some turned out better than others.

The ride was fun. We counted 18 plastic animals along the route. It was three miles each way with a stop in the middle to ask questions and see the locomotive of the turntable. This engine has been running since 1957!

After the train, we had lunch at KFC and then came home for rest time. I took a walk in the fitness center while the kids rested.  When I got back, we watched tv and headed out for the Mackenzie environmental center. We got there too late for exhibits, but saw a few buffalo and birds. The kids both napped in the car, so that was good. We swam again tonight and then finished up or chicken dinner and made s'mores again. Things have been relaxed and chill, just the way we hoped they would be.

Livin' the summer dream, my friends!
