Today we had fun at the first day of Valleyfair's Pumpkin Fest and Halloween Haunt. After a lazy morning at home we headed out in beautiful weather for lunch, trick-or-treating, a petting zoo, rides, and a corn maze. The kids had lots of fun and we're both ready for naps when we got home.
Amir was overtired and screamed to stay awake for several minutes. I walked in on him once to find him with one sleeve out of his shirt. Poor kid; how did this happen? Yes, I let him cry while I got the camera.
After naps we headed back out for the evening haunt. We got there just in te to see the last Charlie Brown show and to trick or treat one more time. Lyla loved the photo boards.
We took a family ride on Lucy's tug boat and then tried the big version, the northern lights. My butt actually fit in the seat! As we were heading back to thr main area of the park, we saw the monster parade where all of the scary monsters mach to their destination scale spots. Some of them were quite scary and we were excited to watch, but hay not to be on the front lines.
We thought about seeing how she would do without one, but after Lyla saw the parade and witnessed several other kids scared silly, she had to have a "no boo" necklace. It's an orange light up pumpkin necklace that says no boo and signals the monsters that you don't want to be scared.
Since it was still mostly light out, we braved the walk through trails and did the haunted version of the corn maze we did earlier in the day. Both kids cried when the fog inside completely blocked our vision. Amir started, but once Lyla started crying Amir quieted down. Thanks to the necklace, the monsters just waved and said hi to the kids. After that, Lyla thought the walk throughs were nothing and we did each a couple times. Her favorite was the "Carnevil" with scary clowns. Amir just looked at them like, "yeah, I'm too tired for this."
It was a fun night. Hopefully we get some sleep!
