Today Lyla had a big milestone -- her first party for her friends! She was very excited to have her friends over and they all said yes! It was a little crazy with 7 kids and 4 moms (2 of us pregnant) in the apartment, but Lyla had a great time and Brady said it was a great party. We are so blessed with awesome friends and it was great to celebrate together!
I made a Bubble Guppies cake and we had tacos, apples, and juice for lunch. It seemed like a hit!
The kids had a good time playing "Pin the Tail on Molly". Not everyone was into it at first, but everyone had a chance and it was ok to opt out too. Lyla is definitely not used it sharing her space with friends and had a couple breakdowns throughout the party. At one point she even shut herself into the closet ... Then got extra upset because she couldn't get out. Too much party!
Melanie suggested gifts before cake, which was a lifesaver. Lyla got a tutu and headband set from Cece, a new soccer ball, socks, a pony t-shirt (twilight even has her wings on the shirt, mom!), and frame painting kit from the Borchardts, and Twilight's Princess Castle from the Baileys. She LOVED everything and it's all extra special because it's from her friends. Thanks everyone! You are all awesome and very thoughtful!
Next was cake. Everyone had a piece and then we chilled out for a few minutes before the group packed up and headed home with their swag bags. While chaotic, it was a great time and I as very happy to celebrate such a special time with our best buddies. Happy 5th Birthday Lyla!!
