Weekend at Home

Lyla had her first round of low counts this weekend, so we spent a lot of time inside hanging out as a family. Grandma came over on Saturday and we made green bean pickles. Grandpa couldn't come because he had a nasty case of strep and Ms. Lyla couldn't be exposed. The pickles turned out great! We even did a few cucumber and cauliflower ones since we had extra jars. I'm not sure how pickled cauliflower will taste, but it doesn't hurt to try!

Sunday we got up early and made muffins. Lyla also insisted we make biscuits. Then we took a trip to Fleet Farm for more canning supplies. Lyla had never been there before and seemed very impressed. I forgot how narrow the aisles are there, but they really do have everything. We got home and made 4 berry jam. Lyla wasn't into it and decided to make block towers, slide, and watch TV instead. Masud took us out for a date at Taco Bell. I brought wipes and wiped down the table and made sure we all had clean hands before we ate. Kiddo finished her usual two soft tacos sans cheese and lettuce and a bag of nachos. She even ate the cheese dip!

Monday was another day at home. Lyla helped me make spiced apricot jam. Her favorite part was blending everything together in the food processor. It only made three jars, but that's all we had left after the berry recipe yielded extra anyway. The rest of the day we chilled out. Lyla loves watching the Disney Dream Vacation video to see where we'll be going in a couple weeks. Only 13 more days until the big wish trip! Masud came home and we went to Arby's.

We've been enjoying time just chilling as a family. Lyla is excited to start soccer this week and Masud loves to play with her. They kick the ball back and forth to each other in the living room. Masud also helps her to be "Super Big Girl"  and fly around the living room (she used to be "Super Baby"). Masud and I started playing soccer when Lyla needed a little break. After we scared Herky to death and almost broke the window we took things down a notch. I love this relaxed family time. Most weekends I feel cooped up, but it was nice to wind down a little bit and just chill out.
