Soccer!

Today was Lyla's first day of soccer's she woke up saying, "Mom, today is my soccer day!" She was a little shy at first, but then her coach helped her with her shirt and they started kicking back and forth. Her coaches didnt hear about her disabilities, so i gave then a five second overview. they weren't hesitant at all. Both coaches were really nice and all the kids needed a little help so it wasn't a big deal.

Lyla got a little upset during the warm up because she isn't able to do some of the jumping things, but she was happy to do the obstacle course when Coach Susan helped her out.

Waiting for practice to start

Getting a few kicks in before practice.

Getting in on the action. That's my soccer star!

Lyla did amazing today. She got out there and tried her best. She recognized right away that she couldn't do things the other kids could do, but it didn't stop her from trying and having a great time. Her coaches were SO great about helping her out. I think we really lucked out getting coaches who are there to make it a positive experience for everyone.

Lyla worked hard and was super sweaty (it was also 85 degrees). She was exhausted by the end of practice, but she left the field spwith a smile. I was beaming. I teared up several times watching her play. That's my kid! Playing soccer! You go girl!!
