Today we went to the zoo and saw these beavers. The Mom chewed down this tree right in front of us, then dragged it into the water. It was pretty neat. I wonder if they're supposed to that in their habitat...
Lyla had a great week. After getting home from Madison on Monday we had a regular week of daycare, work and therapy. Lyla had to re-certify for PT this week so Sadie had her do some tests before getting with her regular PT appointment. She was able to stand up from the floor with no help in the "strong" way. Instead of standing up like a baby -- think bear crawl -- she got on her knees, put one knee up and pushed up from the floor! It's is a big deal as it has been one of her goals for a long time. I was VERY proud of her!
Friday we went to the pediatrician for a pre-op physical (she's got an MRI in a couple weeks). She measured 38.5 inches tall and was about 43 lbs. I talked with doctor and recounted the March story that started with her not recognizing how sick Lyla was during her last pre-op. she did a more thorough check this time and suggested we ask the pulmonologist about a pneumonia vaccine at our next visit.
Yesterday I met Sabrina for pesto making class with Matt so Lyla went garage saling with Grandpa and then played in the sprinkler and at the water table. Always fun! We had dinner at McDonald's and she climbed all the way up the play structure by herself. She had to work hard since each level was about as tall as her chest, but she worked at it and found a way to make it work. Way to keep beating those challenges, little one! She was proud and super happy as she came down the big slide all by herself.
Today we stayed home until lunch, then went out for Indian food and headed to the zoo. The man at the restaurant suggested Lyla might like some mild tasting chicken when I took her to the buffet, but I assured him the goat biryani was a better choice. She loved it! The zoo was hot but we had a good time. After a little rest and cooling down when we got home, Lyla helped me make no-bake cheesecake for Masud. Now we're just remaking watching movies!
