Five Years!

I can't believe it's been 5 years since I started blogging! Officially, the blog hit the five year mark on May 14, so I'm behind as usual of late, but it's still exciting. I feel blessed to have so many wonderful things to write about and for all the people who care to read about our family adventures. Who knew five years ago that the blog would be out outlet for not only pregnancy stories and baby pictures, but also for documenting the journey through brain tumor, rehab and now the fun stuff like school field trips and family outings!

Things have been going great for Lyla lately and we're loving spending lots of family time now that Masud is on his break from HR Block. We had another fun weekend at Valleyfair and timed it just right with the rain so we got to see the new dinosaur part of the park in the sun and almost entirely on our own. There was no one else there and Lyla loved pushing the buttons to make the dinosaurs move.

I was proud of her for volunteering during the Peanuts jungle stage show. She didn't get chosen to go on stage, but she was very excited to tell "JT" her favorite animal (a tiger). We also had a good time playing in the Peanuts factory where you collect balls and put them into all kinds of machines that shoot them every which direction. Lyla did a great job picking up the balls and even sustained a deep squat for a long time, then stood up without falling over. She's getting really strong!

Sunday Lyla and I went to a bridal shower for Stacy. It was a great time and fun to celebrate the next big event in our family. Stacy looked great and we had fun making her guess Chris's answers to questions. I won a game where you had to sniff spices and Lyla did an excellent job introducing herself during the ice breaker.

After going to the pulmonologist last week for a follow up, we now have a stoplight illness plan to tell us when to ramp up her lung drugs  in the event she gets a cold. Of course a week after we get the plan she gets a runny nose and the beginning of a summer cold. We started adding in the albuterol inhaler yesterday and will have to add vest treatments if the cold moves into her chest. We're hoping for a fun weekend in the Black Hills this weekend, but it's supposed to rain there, so we might spend most of our time indoors.
