Christmas Time is Here at Ryan and Emily's!

Christmas time brought lots of family get togethers -- three days in a row! Sunday December 23 we headed to Ryan and Emily's house for a Johnson family Christmas with just our immediate family. We called it our Feliz Navidad party since Emily made delicious tacos and beans.

Lyla is one lucky and loved little lady. Not only did she have a pile of presents from the family, she also had gifts from her fans at Taste of Scandinavia (Thanks Mike and Camelia and Becky!) and Carrie and Jeff.

She was very excited for Christmas and despite my efforts to teach her that it's about more than presents and yummy food, when you're almost 4, the presents are the best part. Lyla got everything on her list except an ipad before Santa had a chance to bring them for her!

Uncle Ryan got the best gift of all -- Mary McLeod Bethune! He was obviously ecstatic.

Lyla and I made a pinata to bring to the party. It was a lot of fun to make and fun to break! All was good until Grandpa started hoarding the candy like a crazy man.

Good thing there are lots of instruments to help Lyla work through her emotions. She had a great time playing piano with Ryan and Emily. Here, Ryan's playing the autoharp while Lyla adds piano style.

It was great to be together and have Christmas as a family. Mom had a sprained foot after falling on the stairs at church earlier that morning, but ended up being ok after a visit to the United ER after dinner. Never a dull moment!
